Parents are an important and vital part of the education process. Parents and family continue to be the biggest influence on student decisions with respect to a student’s education. For this reason, Making Waves Academy tries to foster a variety of pathways to engage parents. Building rapport with our parents and encouraging two-way communication is one of the better ways student needs can be addressed in a timely and effective way.

  • Parent Education. Parents are surveyed on issues about which they would like more information. Sessions are developed and led by on-site staff or external service providers.
    • September 25, 2024: 4:30pm-6pm
    • January 22, 2025: 4:30pm-6pm
    • April 23, 2025: 4:30pm-6pm
  •  Advisor and Family Conferences. There are two student led parent teacher conference weeks during the school year. In addition to those conferences, parents are encouraged are encouraged to call, email, or set up meetings with teachers any time throughout the semester year they would like. Our hope is to foster open communication between home and school.

  • Parent information about Making Waves Education Foundation’s college and career success program Making Waves Education Foundation provides personalized support and scholarship funding to Wave-Makers interested in attending college after high school. As part of this college and career success program, Wave-Makers are partnered with a college coach and financial services coordinator throughout their college career. These highly skilled professionals support students to successfully earn a bachelor's or associate degree, transfer to a four-year college, or complete a community college vocational program. Wave-Makers receive a college scholarship to make college affordable and help them to graduate with minimal to no debt. And as part of the Wave-Maker network, students join a community of their peers and have access to career counseling and graduate school advising. Click here for recent information.
