Middle School Director Welcome

Welcome to the Making Waves Academy middle school division!

The Making Waves Academy (MWA) middle school division is a special place for students to learn and to develop the skills necessary to thrive in the 21st century. We serve the needs of just over 600 students enrolled in fifth through eighth grade. The teachers at our school are a highly qualified group of professionals focused on providing a welcoming, caring, and engaging learning environment that is grounded in high expectations for each individual learner.

The middle school is committed to providing a safe, caring, and challenging educational environment that promotes learning and achievement for all students. We recognize and celebrate the diverse learning styles, interests, talents, and cultures of our students and strive to offer a rich variety of meaningful learning experiences that will inspire innovative thinkers and confident scholars. We do this by focusing in on our middle school mantra, the 4 R’s: Rigor, Relevance, Results, and Relationships.

We offer a variety of programs and activities that allows for our students to explore their interests while also developing academically, socially, and emotionally. Our Wave-Makers benefit from a full block schedule that allows for significant time spent in project-based, interdisciplinary, and blended learning curriculums. We also work just as diligently to cultivate effective social and emotional competence by holding one another to the very highest of expectations for kindness and respect. Finally, our students also take part in enrichment and intervention courses as well as a variety of clubs, activities, and an after‐school program that all function to support students as they seek to find what interests them and to skill build as they work to become citizens of the greater community and world.
